Dog and Scone is a heaven for dog lovers, where you can enjoy delicious cakes, coffees and teas all in the company of our resident dogs.
We know in this busy world it’s not easy for every dog lover to own a dog, so we want to provide a place where you can have a nice cup of tea and relax with our cute pooches.
Please note that we are not a “dog-friendly” cafe, but instead a cafe with our very own friendly dogs!
To ensure the well-being and continued care of our dogs, we charge a £7 entry fee per person, per 55-minute
session. Additionally, it supports the cafe’s amenities, allowing us to keep up and running and maintain a
comfortable and enjoyable environment for both our dogs and guests.
For safety and insurance policy reasons, visiting dogs are unfortunately not allowed in the cafe. We absolutely love all dogs, however our pack of 8 resident dogs are free-roaming in the cafe daily, and while they are friendly, we cannot guarantee they will get along well with any other dogs coming into their space.
Our policies are in place not only for our safety and insurance, but we must also adhere to the agreement we have in place with our animal welfare team. Our dogs’ have shown uncertainty and reactive behaviour towards small / young children in the past, so these rules keep everyone safe.
A: We kindly ask that you refrain from feeding our dogs any human food or bring your own treats for them. Don’t worry, though - towards the end of your session, our staff will typically provide treats that are safe and suitable for you to share with the dogs.
While we appreciate the good intentions behind this gesture, some of our dogs have allergies, dietary restrictions, or follow specific meal plans.
We understand you really enjoy holding the dogs, but please refrain from picking them up yourself. When a dog seems comfortable and indicates they’d like to be held, a staff member will bring the dog to you. This policy is in place for several important reasons: it helps prevent accidents, reduces the risk of defensive reactions, and ensures the dogs can move around freely and comfortably.
Our staff do not force the dogs to do anything they do not want to do. Guests are encouraged to place the dogs’ favourite blankets on their laps, as this often invites the dogs to choose to settle there if they’re looking for a peaceful spot to rest. Respecting their choices keeps the dogs content and comfortable.
While our dogs tend to be most active during the first few sessions of the day, we can't guarantee their energy levels will follow a set pattern. Healthy adult dogs sleep around 12-14 hours a day, and puppies even more so. Since we can't control or alter their natural sleep patterns, please don't worry if they seem extra relaxed. (Don't worry — it just means they'll be extra snuggly!)
Our no-shoe policy helps keep the cafe clean and prevents outside bacteria from being introduced. Since our dogs are naturally curious, this also ensures they don’t accidentally ingest anything harmful. If you’d prefer not to be in socks or barefoot, we have slippers available for you to borrow.
The entry fee helps us provide the best possible care for our dogs. It helps towards essential costs such as veterinary bills, insurance, grooming, treats, and toys. Additionally, it supports the cafe’s amenities, allowing us to keep up and running and maintain a comfortable and enjoyable environment for both humans and animals.
The £7 per person fee covers the overall experience of the session, including the opportunity to meet, play with, stroke, and even feed the dogs. Food and drinks are available at an additional cost, but they’re entirely optional.
We are indeed wheelchair accessible. There is a small ramp leading into the cafe with double doors that can be opened to accommodate most wheelchairs and mobility aids. Inside, there is a spacious bathroom with an outward-opening door that is wheelchair-friendly and available for both customers and staff.
While many activities during the session involve interacting with the dogs at floor level, we’re happy to accommodate any accessibility needs. We have lower chairs and seating options available (and sometimes our dogs sit on the human chairs to join your party too!)
At this time, we do not offer any discounts. Due to the nature of our small independent business, it isn’t feasible for us to provide permanent discounts all year-round. However, be sure to follow us on social media, where we occasionally announce limited-time offers and promotions!
Yes, if all the dogs are doing well, you can expect a full house! However, unforeseen circumstances may occasionally prevent a dog from being present on a given day, so we cannot guarantee that you will meet every dog during a single visit. Factors like vet appointments, grooming sessions, or other commitments can affect their attendance. Additionally, if any dog shows signs of being overwhelmed or needs a break, they will be given time off to rest.
Yes! We hold 12 seats per session, so to reserve the entire space, you would need to book and pay the entry fee for all 12 spots (£7 per person x 12 = £84).
All bookings are made online, so please check our booking calendar for available dates and times with full capacity. For safety reasons, we cannot exceed 12 people, which is the absolute maximum. You’re welcome to bring fewer than 12 guests and still enjoy the space privately, as long as the full capacity is paid for. All our usual house rules and restrictions still apply.
We release our available spaces for booking approximately 3-4 weeks in advance. You can secure a spot as close as 5 minutes before a session begins if you're nearby, but for larger groups or busier times, we recommend booking a few days in advance. Simply check the calendar on our bookings page to view all available dates and times.
